Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
The short version
Confessed has no accounts and never asks for your name, email or phone number. It is meant for adults 18 and over. We collect as little as possible to run the site and keep it free of spam.
What we store
- What you post: confessions, comments, the category you pick and the optional name you type for a comment thread. These are public.
- A random visitor ID cookie (
vid): a random code that remembers your votes, comment likes, your name inside each comment thread and whether you posted a confession (for the OP badge). It does not contain any personal information. - A theme cookie (
theme): only if you switch between light and dark mode. - Counts: how many times a confession was viewed or shared, and which site sent the visitor (for example a link marked as coming from Instagram). These are totals, not records of individual people.
What we don’t store
- Your IP address is never saved with your posts. It is held briefly in memory to stop spam (rate limiting) and then discarded.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don’t sell data.
How long we keep it
Posts stay up until they are removed by us. Cookies stay in your browser for up to two years; you can delete them at any time in your browser settings, which also gives you a fresh, unlinked identity on the site.
Your rights
Because we don’t know who you are, we usually can’t link a post to you. If you want a specific confession or comment removed, or have a privacy question, email [email protected] with the link to it.
Children
Confessed is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor is using the site, contact us and we will remove their content.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version.
